TIPS for winter coat care
Your winter coats, or coats, are investment garments so great care will ensure they last you for years and years.
Always read your garment’s care instructions on the label, however, many coats can easily be cared for without dry cleaning. For coats and jackets, sometimes spot cleaning may be more appropriate, rather than cleaning the entire garment.
Wool Coats
Do up buttons or zips, turn inside out.
Treat collar and end of sleeves, armpit area, for any stains with gentle and effective Stain Removal Spray. Leave it for 10 minutes to work prior to washing.
Hand wash or use cold water delicates cycle with Laundry Liquid Wool & Silk, also available free from natural essential oils fragrance Laundry Liquid for Wool & Silk neutral. These products use high-grade olive oil which is processed to obtain soap for outstanding cleansing properties that are also nurturing for woollen and silk fabrics, restoring the protective hydrolipid film.
Dissolve ½ teaspoon of Wool Care in hot water, then add to final rinse water if hand washing, or into softener compartment of your washing machine. Restores wool.
Roll excess water out with a towel and turn outside in, dry on a sturdy hanger that will hold the shape of your coat.
Be ever so careful with the iron, if indeed it even needs ironing. Iron inside out with a cool iron, or hold the iron slightly above the wool and steam any wrinkles out.
TIPS:
Don’t use your pockets for keeping your hands warm, use gloves, or fingerless gloves instead. Once pockets stretch, that affects the line of your coat.
Always use sturdy hangers for coats.
