A checklist helps you work through one task at a time and ticking them off always feels good. Do it all in one hit, or spread each task out over a number of days. We'll tackle each room at a time over 4 weeks. This second week into it is The Bathroom.

Please note: throughout we will use the generic term Cleaner which in this case really means one of the following, your preference:

Orange Power Cleaner diluted, add small squirt in 500ml water in a trigger bottle
or All-Purpose Cleanser diluted, add small squirt in 500ml water in a trigger bottle
or Dishwashing Liquid/All-Purpose Cleanser sensitive diluted, add small squirt in 500ml water in a trigger bottle

The Ultimate Spring Clean Checklist

Step by Step • Bathroom

1) Toilet
The night before use Toilet Cleaner Cedar-Citronella or Mint-Myrtle under the rim and leave to do it's work overnight. Scrub, if required, in the morning.

Spray the toilet seat, lid, rim, base and cistern with diluted Orange Power Cleaner in a trigger bottle and wipe with a paper towel.

2) Shower
Spray a liberal amount of Bathroom Cleaner and leave it for several minutes to do its work, wipe and rinse.

3) Bath and basin
Also spray with Bathroom Cleaner and leave for a while. Bathroom Cleaner is particularly effective at removing hard water deposits, water spots and soap residue as well as limescale deposits.

Please note: Bathroom Cleaner is not suitable for calcareous surfaces such as marble, alabaster, terrazzo, artificial stone, concrete, etc.

Shower, Bath, Basin: If need be, for tougher cleaning jobs use Scouring Fluid or very economical Scouring Powder. Powder is the best choice for limescale deposits in basin or bath.

4) Walls
Use Cleaner spray and wipe.

5) Grout
Spray grout with water. Wearing gloves, make a paste using Bleach Complex and Stain Remover and water. Spread along the wet grout. If the grout seems particularly stained, mix the Bleach Complex with lemon juice instead of water. Leave for 30 minutes and remove with a wet microfibre cloth.

6) Shower Rose
Remove the rose, add approximately 100ml of Decalcifier to 500ml of boiling water from the kettle into a bowl, place the shower rose in the mixture, allowing it to act for 30 minutes. Rinse off thoroughly and return the shower rose.

Alternatively pour 1 cup white vinegar into a plastic bag, fasten around shower head with a rubber band and allow to sit overnight. Remove bag in the morning and rinse shower head.

7) Shower curtain
Place in the washing machine with a large towel to aid cleaning and Lavender Liquid Laundry. Hang outdoors to dry.

8) Drawers and cabinets
Remove everything from the drawers, getting rid of outdated and/or empty product containers, spray and wipe with Cleaner and return items.

9) Extractor fan
Clean vent fan covers at least once a year. Turn off power at the circuit breaker and remove the cover. Fill a small bucket with warm water and a few squirts of Dishwashing Liquid Lemon or Calendula and let the fan cover soak for 10 minutes. Scrub, rinse and air dry on a paper towel.

10) Mirrors
Spray and wipe down your mirrors. For no streak mirrors clean with Multi Surface and Glass Cleaner and a clean damp microfibre cloth.

11) Floors
Vacuum and then mop floors with diluted All-Purpose Cleanser.

12) Hand & Body Soaps

We love Sonett’s range of Liquid Soaps, one for the shower as a body wash and one for the basin. RosemaryRoseCitrusLavender, Sensitive or Épure which is a combination of seven herbs for a special aromatic fragrance. Both kids and adults alike love Foam Soap Calendula with its special foaming dispenser.

Finish with plants, or a jug of fresh spring flowers.
